ACC Premier Cup starting today; Nepal faces Malaysia



KATHMANDU: The second edition of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup cricket tournament begins today, with Nepal set to face Malaysia on the opening day.

The match, taking place in Oman, will start at 4:30 pm Nepali time.

The tournament features eight top-seeded ACC nations and the ACC Challengers Cup finalists.

The top-ranked countries participating include Nepal, UAE, Oman, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar, while the finalists from the ACC Challengers Cup—Saudi Arabia and Cambodia—are also participating.

Nepal is in Group A of the Premier Cup, alongside Hong Kong, Malaysia, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

Group B includes Bahrain, UAE, Cambodia, Kuwait, and Oman.

The tournament winner will earn a spot in the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, while the top three teams will secure a place in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Nepal’s second match will be against Qatar on Saturday, followed by matches against Hong Kong on April 15 and Saudi Arabia on April 17. All Nepal’s matches will begin at 4:15 PM Nepali time.

After the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The final match is scheduled for April 21.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a 14-member squad for the ACC Premier Cup, with Rohit Paudel as captain.

The team also includes Asif Seikh, Anil Sah, Dipendra Singh Airi, Kushal Bhurtel, Abhinash Bohora, Pratish JC, Gulshan Jha, Sandeep Zora, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Kushal Malla, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Bibek Yadav.
