KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, issued a stern warning, stating that he would personally break the lock if anyone attempts to padlock Bir Hospital.

The statement came during an event organized by the National Academy of Medical Sciences at Bir Hospital to inaugurate mammography services.

Minister Basnet expressed his awareness of the ongoing issue at Bir Hospital, where one group of people has reportedly been neglecting their duties while another group works tirelessly. He suggested that the activities of a particular group seemed aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

During the service inauguration, the Health Minister commended the positive messages sent by the hospital’s introduction of an 8:00 am OPD service and the establishment of a separate ward for VIP treatment. Mammography is a screening device used for breast cancer detection.

Highlighting the importance of specialized treatment for cardiac diseases in addition to cancer treatment, Minister Basnet called for enhanced facilities in this regard.

Vice-Chancellor of NAMS, Prof Dr Bhupendra Kumar Basnet, informed about the installation of modern 3D technology-equipped equipment in the hospital. He also mentioned plans to increase ICU capacity and introduce teaching MBBS subjects in the upcoming academic session.
