KATHMANDU: After providing his statement in the Sano Paila Cooperative fraud case in Birgunj, Parsa, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has been transferred to Pokhara.
Lamichhane, who is currently in the custody of the Parsa District Police, was flown to Pokhara via Kathmandu.
Earlier, he had been brought to Kathmandu from Simara, Bara, and now he has been sent onward to Pokhara.
Parsa Police recorded Lamichhane’s statement on Tuesday, in the presence of Bholanath Niraula, the Chief of the District Government Attorney’s Office.
On Monday, Lamichhane had been flown from Pokhara to Birgunj via Kathmandu for an investigation into the Sano Paila Cooperative fraud case.
Lamichhane is being investigated for involvement in five cooperative fraud cases, organized crime, and money laundering-related offenses.
Chhabilal Banjade Joshi, a former DIG and business partner of Lamichhane, is also under investigation in connection with the same case.
The District Court in Kaski extended the remand for both Lamichhane and Banjade by four days on Sunday.
They are expected to be presented in court again on Thursday.
