Kathmandu sees record low of 3.9°C today

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley has recorded its coldest temperature of the year, with the mercury dropping to 3.9 degrees Celsius this morning.

According to a bulletin from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, the temperature was measured at 8:45 am today.

This marks a decrease from yesterday’s minimum temperature of 5.6°C.

Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane indicated that temperatures are expected to continue to drop, with clear skies predicted for the day.

The maximum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley is forecast to range between 17 and 19°C.

Meanwhile, the lowest temperature in Jumla was recorded at a chilling -6.5°C.

Lamichhane explained that cold weather tends to intensify at night, especially when the skies are clear, as the lack of clouds allows heat to escape, resulting in further temperature drops.
