Lumbini Province Forest Minister’s resignation accepted

LUMBINI: Lumbini Province Chief, Chet Narayan Acharya, today approved the resignation tendered from his post by Badshah Kurmi, the Province Government’s Minister for Forests and Environment.

Kurmi, elected to the Province Assembly on a Nepali Congress ticket from Banke provincial electoral constituency number 3 (B), was appointed as the Minister for Forests and Environment in the provincial government on July 24.

Human rights campaigners had been protesting his appointment from the day he was appointed the provincial government minister for his alleged involvement in the death of a woman in Banke.

Kurmi resigned from his post to pave the way for investigations into the allegations leveled against him.
