Ten injured by lightning strike in Kailali



KAILALI: Ten people were injured by a lightning strike in Uttarmuda, Bardagoriya Rural Municipality, Kailali district, on Sunday.

The injured individuals include Phariya Devi Chaudhary, Rita Devi Chaudhary, Maya Chaudhary, Kamalapati Chaudhary, Kiran Chaudhary, Urmila Dagaura, Parbati Chaudhary, Phul Kumari Chaudhary, and Nirmala Devi Tharu from Uttarmuda.

Additionally, Mamata Tharu from Dhusara, Ghodaghodi Rural Municipality-2, was also injured, according to the District Police Office, Kailali.

Police Inspector Lokendra Singh Karki reported that the victims, members of the Tharu community, were struck by lightning while preparing a meal on the 13th day of mourning for local resident Bhim Bahadur Chaudhary.

All the injured are receiving treatment at Bardagoriya Hospital in Bauniya, police confirmed.
