Court extends Bechan Jha’s custody by four days

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has extended the custody of Bechan Jha by four more days to allow for further investigation.

A bench led by Judge Mahendra Raj Kafle granted the police permission to keep Jha in custody as they continue their probe into his involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

Jha, who had been on the run, was arrested from Kanchanpur on June 28.

He is accused of acting as a mediator, facilitating meetings between brokers and high-ranking officials, including the Home Minister and the Secretary.
