KATHMANDU: India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday during an official visit to Kathmandu.

Foreign Secretary Misri arrived in Kathmandu at the invitation of Nepal’s Foreign Secretary, Sewa Lamsal.

The meeting between PM Oli and Misri took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar.

Earlier in the day, Misri also called on President Ram Chandra Paudel.

During his visit, Secretary Misri is scheduled to hold discussions with Nepal’s Finance Minister, Urban Development Minister, and Foreign Minister.

The talks are expected to focus on advancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation, building on recent high-level exchanges.

This visit underscores India’s commitment to its relationship with Nepal, a key element of its Neighborhood First policy, according to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

The two countries share deep-rooted civilizational and cultural ties, which have been further strengthened in recent years through increased bilateral cooperation.
