Chief Minister Sodari’s wife, Geeta, found guilty in corruption case

KATHMANDU: Geeta Sodari, the wife of Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Dirgha Bahadur Sodari, has been found guilty in a corruption case.

A bench comprising Special Court Chairman Teknarayan Kunwar and Judges Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ritendra Thapa convicted Geeta on Thursday in a case related to forged educational certificates.

Geeta was accused of using a fake educational certificate to secure a government job in teaching.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case against her for this offense.

Geeta, a teacher at Shiv Lower Secondary School in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-9, Kailali, had submitted a certificate claiming she completed 10th grade from the Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.

The CIAA’s investigation confirmed that the certificate was forged.

Consequently, the CIAA filed a corruption case against her on September 23, 2022.

Geeta, the wife of the Chief Minister, is also a leader of the CPN-Unified Socialist Party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.
