Pakistan’s withdrawal alters SAFF U-20 Championship schedule

KATHMANDU: The schedule for the SAFF U-20 Championship, set to be held in Kathmandu, has been revised.

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) announced a new schedule on Thursday after Pakistan withdrew from the championship.

According to the new schedule, the opening match of the championship will feature the host team, Nepal, facing Sri Lanka.

The second match will see Bhutan playing against India.

In the second group stage match, Nepal will compete against Bangladesh.

In Group A, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka will compete, while Group B includes India, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.

The final match is scheduled for August 28.

The championship will take place at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor from August 18 to 28.
