KATHMANDU: The Central Committee Member of the Nepali Congress, Dr. Shashank Koirala, has expressed concerns that forming a coalition of two major political parties could potentially lead to an autocratic regime in the country.
During a brief conversation with journalists in Biratnagar on Thursday, he emphasized the need for a strong opposition to maintain balance.
“There is a fear of autocratic rule if two major parties unite. Balance must be maintained, and a strong opposition is equally necessary,” he stated.
Koirala stressed the importance of adhering to the constitution and making necessary corrections to move forward.
He also mentioned his interest in having a Hindu president and noted that he has raised this issue in both the Central Committee and the General Assembly meetings.
“It’s not just my personal interest in a Hindu nation; I have also raised this issue in the Central Committee and the Mahasamiti meeting. Currently, we are seeking a stable government,” he added.
