KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has advised the public to embark on long journeys only after checking road conditions, as highways remain obstructed in various regions due to ongoing monsoon rains.

Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki stated that the public should inquire about road conditions before traveling, to avoid being stranded.

According to the police, many roads are still non-operational due to floods and landslides triggered by relentless monsoon rains.

Citizens are urged to take special precautions, as more obstructions are likely with continued rainfall.

For information on highway conditions, Nepal Police has provided the following contact numbers: General Police 100, Traffic Police 103, Children at Risk Coordination Centre 104, and Police Complaints 1113.

Additionally, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged everyone to take special precautions.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a public notice stating that the weather will be cloudy with rainfall in many places for the next three days.
