IN PICS: Rato Machhindranath Jatra commences in colorful display

KATHMANDU: Today marked the beginning of the eagerly anticipated Rato Machhindranath Jatra with the ceremonial pulling of the chariot carrying the revered deity Rato Machindranath, known as the god of rain and prosperity.

The exquisitely crafted chariot, originating from Pulchowk, embarked on its journey towards Gahbahal accompanied by the enchanting melodies of traditional musical instruments.

Following the meticulous construction of the chariot, the idol of deity Machhindranath was reverently installed atop it.

Presently, the Rato Machhindranath chariot is making its way from Pulchowk to Gahbahal, traversing through the various toles (local neighborhoods) of Patan.

Before culminating at Jawalakhel, where the renowned Bhoto Jatra exhibition unfolds, the procession promises to captivate onlookers with its cultural splendor.
