KATHMANDU: The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to file candidacy in Ilam-2 by election to be held on April 27.

However, the party has opted not to contest in the Bajhang constituency of Sudurpashchim province for the province assembly by-election.

This decision was made during a central committee meeting held on Monday.

According to Pratibha Rawal, the co-spokesperson of RSP, the party made the decision regarding by-election participation.

“The central committee has decided to participate in the parliamentary by-election in Ilam constituency number 2. However, the decision has been made not to participate in the by-election in Bajhang for the Sudurpaschim province assembly,” said Rawal.

Ilam-2 became vacant after the demise of UML Subas Chandra Nembang, a member of the National Assembly from the CPN-UML.

Similarly, Bajhang province Assembly constituency number 1 was vacant following the death of lawmaker Prithvi Bahadur Singh.

The by-elections in these two constituencies are scheduled to be held on April 27.

After joining the government, RSP’s central committee has also decided on the functioning period of ministers.

Additionally, the committee has made decisions regarding the formation of a team to assist in the government’s work.

Furthermore, RSP has formed a public relations department, and the responsibility of the department chief has been assigned to Ishra Mulla Miya.

The central committee of RSP has also decided to add two members to the National Administration Commission.
