KATHMANDU: House of Representatives (HoR) member Kalpana Chaudhary said it was a wrong tendency to think everything right while remaining in power and everything wrong when in opposition.

Lawmaker Chaudhary noted that they could not perform much in the parliament due to political wrangling for power.

“It has been almost one-and-a-half years since the people elected them to the member of HoR. Only two bills were endorsed in the past one year”, she lamented.

The parliament was in deadlock for long, parliamentarian Chaudhary said they had come to the parliamentary space with high morale to give political outlet to the country by ending anomalies and aberrations.

“Nepali Congress is in parliament as the country’s oldest and largest democratic party. It was in the role to work in line with the people’s aspirations, provide opportunities to other political parties and accommodate diverse forces. With the political ups and downs, now NC is not in same role”, she said.

The lawmaker commented that some political parties have thrown big agenda beyond their capacity which she said was an intended act to perplex the people.

She went on saying that the abrupt change in the government now has disappointed the people when there were good efforts underway to track the country to right party ending anomalies.

Leaders of the major political forces Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) have to overcome all kinds of challenges facing the country but they failed to come to a point,” she said, adding suddenly breaking alliance over the issues raised in the internal political life of a party cannot be a suitable decision in a democracy.

The political parties with democratic credentials have also failed in adhering with the policy, rule, ethics and principles, she mentioned.

Nepali Congress despite being the largest party had accepted the leadership of the third party with the view of ensuring political stability and prosperity in the country, she said, adding sudden disruption in alliance caused unstable politics.

The political leadership in the government can bring a great deal in lowering corruption if they remained adamant to deliver their promises, she said, adding there is a lack of such leadership in the country.
