Nominations for NA Chair election taking place today



KATHMANDU: The registration process for nominations for the election of National Assembly Chairperson is taking place today.

The election is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Tuesday).

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, prospective candidates will register their nominations between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM today.

Following the conclusion of the registration process, the finalized list of candidates is set to be unveiled at 1:30 pm later today.

The Parliament Secretariat disclosed the election agenda on Tuesday, setting the stage for the political event.

Within the new ruling coalition, a consensus has been reached, designating the Maoist Center for the role of the National Assembly Speaker, with the UML taking on the position of Vice Speaker.

Narayan Dahal has been put forward as the Maoist Center’s nominee for the Speaker position.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has chosen Yuvraj Sharma as its candidate for the National Assembly Speaker position.

With the power dynamics favoring Dahal’s nomination in the coalition, the Maoist Cnter, CPN-UML, Unified Socialist Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party command 39 Members of Parliament in the National Assembly.
