PAC urges govt for prompt public release of Ncell Share Transaction Study Report

KATHMANDU: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has directed the government to promptly release the study report prepared by the investigation committee, headed by Tankamani Sharma, on Ncell’s share transactions.

In a meeting held in Kathmandu on Sunday, PAC emphasized the need for the government to disclose the study report, which was submitted by the committee led by Sharma to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on January 29.

Despite the completion of the study over the past month, the report has not been made public. The parliamentary committee has decided to request a copy of the report from PAC and to make it public.

The Committee underlined the irregular nature of the share transactions and emphasized the alleged tax evasion by Ncell, estimated to be around Rs 85 billion.

The Malaysian company Axiata had sold its 80% stake in Ncell to Spectralight UK, a company associated with Nepali businessman Satish Acharya, at an inflated price.
