Nepal deports 459 foreign nationals in 2023

KATHMANDU: Nepal deported 459 foreign nationals for various reasons, as revealed in discussions on immigration during the meeting of the parliamentary State Affairs Committee in 2023.

A meeting of the Committee held at Singha Durbar analyzed materials presenting this data, emphasizing the need for stringent immigration measures.

This marks a decrease from the previous year, with 570 foreign nationals deported in 2022.

The statistics highlighted a prominent issue of tourists overstaying their visas, contributing significantly to the deportation figures.

Comparatively, the expulsion numbers in preceding years varied: 559 in 2017, 678 in 2018, 671 in 2019, 332 in 2020, and 308 in 2021.

The fluctuations underscore the dynamic challenges faced in managing and regulating foreign presence within the country.

The State Affairs Committee’s meeting reflected the continued efforts to address immigration issues and ensure the security and stability of Nepal’s borders.
