KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has affirmed the government’s steadfast commitment to fully back and collaborate with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in its endeavors to probe and address corruption cases.
During a ceremony commemorating the 33rd foundation day of the CIAA, Prime Minister Dahal acknowledged the role the Commission has played in curbing and addressing corruption across various incidents of varying magnitudes.
“The government is dedicated to subjecting any individual, employee, or official involved in wrongdoing and corruption, from top to bottom, to thorough investigation and appropriate action,” he said.
“The government assures non-interference in the Commission’s activities of accountability,” stated Prime Minister Dahal.
Commending the Commission’s contributions to promoting good governance, the Prime Minister urged the Commission to remain resolute and determined in the ongoing fight against corruption.
Highlighting the imperative nature of corruption control in achieving the constitutional vision of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity, Prime Minister Dahal underscored the government’s policy of zero tolerance towards such activities.
Prime Minister Dahal revealed that the government is channeling its policies, programs, and budgets towards fortifying corruption control agencies like the Commission, ensuring legal, administrative, and financial robustness to effectively combat corruption.
Recalling the pivotal role of the Constitutional Commission in combatting corruption as a primary impediment to good governance, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the need to sustain citizens’ hope and trust in the Commission.
Asserting that corruption control is vital for realizing the nation’s long-term goals of development and prosperity, Prime Minister Dahal stressed the importance of enhancing the Commission’s historical role to ensure the rule of law, human rights protection, and inclusive governance. He expressed confidence in the Commission’s ability to establish a corruption-free society in the future.
Acknowledging the evolving landscape of corruption-related activities globally, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the expansion of the Commission’s scope.
He recognized the challenges in the Commission’s work system due to technological advancements and urged the Commission to conduct independent, fair, and fearless investigations using the latest technology to bring offenders to justice.
