“Students with Chair” program introduced in Ilam’s Rong Rural Municipality



ILAM: Rong Rural Municipality of Ilam has been carrying out a daily savings campaign for students of community schools in the rural municipality.

Mandatory bank accounts have been opened and savings of one rupee per day have been started under the ‘Student with Chair Program’.

The program is based on the ‘School-based Entrepreneurship Program-2080’ procedures.

Rural municipality Chair Mani Kumar Syangbo said that the program was introduced to develop the habit of savings among the students from an early age.

Students from Grade nursery to 12 have participated in the program.

For the purpose, the rural municipality has reached an agreement with Prime Commercial Bank.

The Bank has also contributed more than Rs. 250,000 for the program. An agreement has been reached with the rural municipality to deposit Rs. 100 in the bank account of each student.

There are 30 community schools within the municipality, with 2,500 students participating in the program.
