Eight die in Rautahat jeep accident



RAUTAHAT: Eight people were killed and five others injured in a jeep accident in Rautahat district this morning.

The jeep (Ba 16 Cha 3162), which was traveling from Gadhimai in Bara to Rautahat, crashed at Lamaha along the East-West Highway.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar Rai, the passengers were returning home after performing a puja at the Gadhimai Temple.

The jeep, traveling at high speed, veered off the road and struck a tree.

The victims who died in the crash have been identified as Ramkumari Devi Mahara, Ram Kumari Mahara, Sakuntala Devi Mahara, Urmila Mahara, Laruwati Devi Mahara, Mahagi Devi Mahara, Phulmati Devi Chamar, and driver Sri Kumar Yadav. All the deceased were from Arnama Municipality-3 in Siraha district.

The injured have been identified as Radha Ram, Aryan Ram, Dev Kumari Mahara, Ritik Mahara, and Kanya Devi Mahara. They have been transported to Birgunj for treatment.
