KATHMANDU: Two new judges have been appointed to the Supreme Court (SC) of Nepal.
Nripdhoj Niraula, the Chief Justice of the Patan High Court, and Nityananda Pandey, the Chief Justice of the Tulsipur High Court, have been appointed to the Supreme Court.
Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, Spokesperson for the President’s Office, said that President Ram Chandra Paudel made the appointments on Sunday, in accordance with Clause (2) of Article 129 of the Constitution.
The appointments were unanimously approved by the hearing committee during a meeting held last Friday.
Among the appointees, Niraula is set to serve as the Chief Justice of the country for approximately 50 days after a 12-year judicial career.
