KATHMANDU: India has delivered the first batch of components for ten prefabricated steel bridges to the Government of Nepal.

This delivery follows a request from Nepal and aims to support the country’s reconstruction efforts to restore road connectivity disrupted by recent floods and landslides.

According to the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the components, valued at over Rs 380 million, have been provided as grants.

Devi Sahaya Meena, the Consul General of India in Birgunj, handed over the components to Chief District Officer of Parsa, Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, on Wednesday.

In addition, India has provided humanitarian assistance over the past two days, including more than 25 tons of essential relief materials.

This aid consists of cleaning supplies, medicines, life jackets, sleeping mats and bags, food items, inflatable rubber boats, blankets, chlorine tablets, and water bottles, all aimed at helping families affected by the natural disaster.
