KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Dhanraj Gurung has disassociated himself from the co-operative fraud case involving his ex-wife, Jyoti Gurung.

In a statement made during a House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, MP Gurung demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations against him.

He contended that since he and Jyoti divorced in 2020, it would be unjust to implicate him in this case.

MP Gurung clarified that his divorce from Jyoti was due to personal differences and challenged anyone to prove the allegations of a fake divorce.

He emphasized that he had previously been cleared of earlier accusations following an investigation.

Gurung called on Speaker Devraj Ghimire and the government to conduct an investigation to confirm that the current allegations are unfounded.

Former Law Minister Gurung is facing accusations of embezzling approximately 150 million rupees from the Miteri Savings and Credit Cooperative Society based in Lalitpur.
