KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emphasized the urgent need for greater peace in the world during a ceremony where he conferred certificates to participants of a year-long course at Dharmakirti Monastery.
In his address, Prime Minister Oli stressed that the world is in dire need of peace, compassion, humanity, kindness, and altruism.
He pointed out that the growing relevance of Buddhist education reflects this need.
“Peace remains elusive due to egoistic and arrogant behavior. Many innocent people live in fear of armed attacks. Adhering to Buddhist philosophy is essential to ending such terror,” PM Oli stated, underlining that conflict is a major obstacle to peace.
The event also featured remarks from the monastery’s chief, Dhammawati, who wished Prime Minister Oli good health.
The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister’s spouse, Radhika Shakya, and Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol.
