JHAPA: The Phulbari-Banglabandh checkpoint, a key trilateral trade route between Nepal, India, and Bhutan, has resumed normal operations.

The reopening of the checkpoint has facilitated smoother import processes from Bangladesh.

Subas Pandey, Chief of the Nepal Transit and Warehousing Company Limited Office in Kakarvitta, confirmed that containers stationed at Kakarvitta have now headed toward Bangladesh, while consignments at the Bangladeshi border have begun their journey to Nepal.

Pandey noted, “With the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh, import and export activities with Bangladesh have become easier since August 7.”

According to the office, goods worth Rs 463.18 million were exported to Bangladesh, while imports from Bangladesh to Nepal amounted to Rs 3.83 billion during the fiscal year 2023/24.
