KATHMANDU: Representatives of the Dalit community staged a demonstration in the capital on Saturday, demanding equality in ministerial and other political appointments.

The protest was organized by ‘Dalit Campaign Nepal for Dalits,’ which accused the government of neglecting the Dalit community.

The protest was sparked by the exclusion of Dalit representatives from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s Cabinet, raising concerns about equality and inclusion.

In response to these concerns, Nepali Congress lawmaker Rupa BK was recently appointed as a State Minister.

However, opposition parties, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), have also voiced similar demands for greater inclusion.
