Mukul Dhakal demands investigation against Rabi Lamichhane for passport misuse and cooperative fraud

KATHMANDU: Mukul Dhakal, who has been suspended from his position as General Secretary and spokesperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has called for an investigation into party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane over allegations of passport misuse and involvement in cooperative fraud.

During a press conference held on Wednesday, Dhakal urged the formation of a high-level committee to probe these accusations against Chairman Lamichhane.

He criticized Lamichhane for retaining his position as Home Minister while under investigation for cooperative fraud, with a case currently pending in the Supreme Court.

“The party must establish a high-level committee to investigate Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged role in the cooperative fraud case,” Dhakal stated.

He emphasized that action should be taken by the RSP, not just by ‘Rabi’s Club’.

“There should also be an investigation into Lamichhane’s alleged misuse of his passport. If found guilty, he should be barred from contesting elections for life,” Dhakal added.

The demand for investigation comes amidst growing tensions within the RSP, with Dhakal’s suspension highlighting internal strife over alleged misconduct within the party leadership.
