Colombia and Uruguay will play for the ultimate honor of playing in the final match at the oldest national team tournament in the world.

Argentina awaits as they won the other Semifinal held on July 9 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The fans that pack Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 10 should be in for a memorable matchup between two storied CONMEBOL teams battling for a chance to reach the tournament final.

Both Colombia and Uruguay have been incredibly impressive in the run up to this massive match.

For Colombia, they’ve already matched the highest total of goals they’ve ever scored in this competition with 11.

A catalyst for this excellent offensive performance has been their captain, James Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has tied Lionel Messi’s record of 5 assists in a single edition of the tournament since 2011 and will look to break it against Uruguay.

After defeating Panama 5-0 in the Quarterfinals, Los Cafeteros lead this year’s competition in goals scored, and they’ll be flying right into the competition’s best defense.

Uruguay, who defeated Brazil on penalties following a 0-0 finish at regular time, has only allowed one goal throughout the whole tournament.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have scored an impressive nine goals but also kept in clean at the back with an incredibly hard-working style of play.

Against Colombia on Wednesday, they’ll be without half of their backline that’s started every match for them so far in the tournament.

Right back Nahitan Nandez will miss due to a red card suspension while Ronald Araujo came off injured against Brazil and will likely miss the rest of the tournament.

The experienced José Giménez will likely come in for Araujo and Guillermo Varela a likely option to replace Nandez.

The last time either team made the final, Colombia in 2001 and Uruguay in 2011, both teams went on to win the title.

This year, the winner of this Semifinal will face Argentina for the continent’s top prize.

Key Facts

• Colombia will compete in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ semifinals for the seventh time since the current format was established in 1993. The only time they reached the final, they emerged as champions (2001), eliminating Honduras in the semis (2-0) and defeating Mexico in the title match (1-0).

• Colombia has netted 11 goals at CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™, equaling their highest scoring record in a single edition of the tournament, previously achieved in 1975 and 2001. La Tricolor still has two matches left in the current competition to set a new goal-scoring record.

• James Rodríguez has provided five assists in CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™. One more assist will make him the first player to surpass this figure in a single edition since these records began in 2011, breaking the current record he shares with Lionel Messi (5 assists in 2021).

• This match will feature the two players who have created the most chances for their teammates at CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™: James Rodríguez (14) and Nicolás De La Cruz (13). Lionel Messi (11) completes the podium in this category.
