SC to hear writ against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane today

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is set to hear the writ filed against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane regarding a cooperative misappropriation case today.

The initial hearing for this writ occurred on June 2. SC Judge Til Prasad Shrestha, recognizing the gravity of the case and prioritizing the issuance of an interim order, instructed both parties to discuss the issue.

Stressing the need for a swift resolution, he adjourned the proceedings to today.

Advocate Anupam Bhattarai filed the petition in the Supreme Court, demanding the suspension of Home Minister Lamichhane until the investigation into cooperative fraud allegations is concluded.

The writ also seeks the annulment of a letter from the Attorney General’s office stating that there is no cooperative fraud case against Lamichhane.

Judge Shrestha’s bench has ordered Lamichhane, along with the indictment and complaints filed in various districts, to be presented to the court.
