SC issues show cause order regarding Gandaki CM Adhikari’s appointment

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order against Gandaki Province government in the case related with Khagaraj Adhikari’s appointment as Chief Minister.

A single bench of Justice Binod Sharma issues the show cause order for Adhikari’s appointment and interim order seeking the documents.

Former Chief Minister Surendra Pandey, the province parliamentary party leader of Nepali Congress, filed a writ petition against the appointment of Adhikari as Chief Minister claiming it unconstitutional to use the signature of the Speaker in the claim for majority to form Chief Minister.

It has also been mentioned to submit the papers for the full hearing by April 22.

The court has instructed the government side to submit a written response by April 19.
