Bimala Ghimire elected Vice Chairperson of National Assembly



KATHMANDU: Bimala Ghimire, a lawmaker from the CPN-UML, has been elected as the Deputy Chairperson of the National Assembly.

Ghimire secured 39 votes to clinch victory over her competitor, Nepali Congress candidate Bishnu Devi Pudasaini, who only managed to gather 16 votes.

In addition to support from UML, Ghimire received votes from the CPN- Maoist Center, the CPN-Unified Socialist  and the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).

A total of 55 members of parliament participated in the voting process.

Ghimire garnered votes from 17 lawmakers of the CPN-Maoist Centre, 10 from the UML, along with 8 from the Unified Socialist, and 3 from the JSP.

Ghimire, also a member of the UML central committee, represents Kapilvastu District in the National Assembly.
