Madhes-based parties form working alliance

KATHMANDU: Madhesi central parties, namely Janamat Party, Tarai Madhesh Loktrantrik Party (TMLP), and Janata Pragatishil Party, have declared the formation of a working alliance to address and mainstream public issues.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday, Janamat Party’s Dr. CK Raut, Janata Pragatishil Party’s Hridayesh Tripathi, and TMLP Chair Brishendra Chand Lal announced their collaborative efforts to strengthen the representation of Madhesi concerns among others.

Dr. Raut has decided to join forces with Tripathi and Lal’s parties, aiming to advocate for Madhesi issues, particularly considering the historical trend of Madhesi parties aligning with the federal government for short durations in the past.

The leaders revealed a seven-point agreement that focuses on advocating for the cessation of all forms of discrimination, building national capital, eliminating divisions within the country, and ensuring quality education, health, and social security nationwide.
