Maoist Center betrayed NC and people deserting coalition: Former DPM Khadka

SURKHET: Former Deputy Prime Minister and Nepali Congress Vice President, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has stated that the CPN-Maoist Center has issued a significant political threat by breaking the ruling coalition of the democratic forces.

Speaking at the first district convention of Nepal Loktantrik Indigenous Nationalities Federation in Surkhet on Sunday, DPM Khadka levelled criticism against Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ for the breaking up of the then ruling coalition.

“Prime Minister Dahal’s betrayal to then ruling coalition, comprising NC, Maoist Center and others, is not a betrayal to our party alone it is a betrayal to the commitments made to the public during the election,” Khadka said, adding, “This poses a significant threat to the achievements the Constitution has been trying to safeguard.”

Vice President Khadka recalled that Prime Minister Dahal had asked the political forces that oppose the autocracy and unconstitutional forces who dissolved to go united in the general elections and promised to safeguard the achievements of the past movements; however, he betrayed the coalition going against the public’s mandate.

Khadka also defended the performance of the NC representatives in Prime Minister Dahal’s cabinet and said that the Ministers had performed their best and had not done anything against national interest.
