Alleged rapist arrested and deported from Qatar



KATHMANDU: A youth who was on the run since a case of rape was filed against him has been arrested and deported from Qatar.

Kiran Rai, 19, of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-7 in Khotang was arrested with the help of INTERPOL after a red corner notice was issued against him. Rai was arrested in Qatar in coordination with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Doha.

Following the arrest made five days after the red corner notice was issued, Rai was deported to Nepal today for prosecution in the related case.

A case of rape was registered against Rai at District Police Office Khotang and during the investigation, it was revealed that he had left for Qatar in the course of foreign employment.
Police are conducting a necessary investigation in this regard, according to Nepal Police Headquarters.
