FNCCI calls upon authorities to reinstate dedicated power supplies to industries

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has welcomed the formation of a committee by the government to look into disputes regarding dedicated and trunk line of electricity.

Issuing a press statement today, the FNCCI expects the committee will find a durable solution to the issue.

The FNCCI also calls upon relevant authorities and the government to reinstate dedicated power supplies to industries, emphasizing the industry’s “right” to have uninterrupted access to power.

The government has established a judicial body to investigate the matter which was also the demand of the FNCCI and directed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to restore power supplies to industries, FNCCI said in the statement, welcoming the move of the Council of Ministers.

It thanked the government for the development. The FNCCI has also expressed the hope that no activities will take place negatively impacting the private sector.

Furthermore, the FNCCI appreciates the government’s seriousness in addressing the matter amid the economic challenges facing the country.

It may be noted that the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday formed the committee led by Supreme Court former judge Girish Chandra Lal and comprising the joint-secretaries at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation with an authority to study the disputes regarding the tariffs of dedicated and trunk line and present a report.
