Prachanda signs in support of Palestine, opposes Israeli attacks

KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Chairman of Maoist Center, has signed a petition condemning the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people through its year-long attacks.

Prachanda has become the first major political leader in Nepal to publicly express support for Palestine, even as the International Court of Justice has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A nationwide signature campaign, protesting Israel’s actions in Palestine, was launched on Monday. Prachanda inaugurated the campaign at Ratna Park in Kathmandu by signing the petition.

Until now, Nepal has not taken a clear stance on the Israeli assault and the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Thousands of Nepalese citizens work as laborers in Palestine.

On October 7, 2023, Bipin Joshi, a Nepali national, was abducted by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

His current condition remains unknown. Just a week ago, the Israeli Ambassador to Nepal confirmed that Bipin is still alive.
