HUMLA: Humla, a district in the Himalayas, has experienced its first snowfall of the year.

The snow began falling last night, following a shift in weather since Sunday evening and a windstorm that started in the afternoon.

By this morning, Simkot, the district headquarters, had received three inches of snow, while areas like Limi and other high-altitude regions in North Namkha Rural Municipality had up to one foot of snow, as reported by Log Bohara, a staff member at the Limi Health Post.

Farmers in the region are pleased with the late snowfall, as many in Humla hope it will lead to improved weather conditions that will benefit farming.

The snowfall is seen as a good omen for crops like wheat, barley, and yam.

The district headquarters, Simkot, and surrounding hills are now covered in snow, causing significant disruptions.

Areas such as Chala, Limi, Hilsa, Yari, and other parts of North Namkha have been particularly impacted.

With the snow, temperatures in Humla have dropped below freezing, intensifying the cold.
