KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, held in Kaski police custody since October 18, is being presented in Kaski District Court tomorrow for an extension of his detention.

He was arrested on charges of misappropriation of cooperative funds.

His remand period, extended for the third time, expires today, but due to Saturday’s public holiday, he will be presented in court on Sunday, according to his Secretariat member, Pramod Neupane.

Supporters and RSP members plan to hold demonstrations at Zero Kilometer in Pokhara during Lamichhane’s court appearance.

Neupane has confirmed that Lamichhane’s health remains stable, and he continues to maintain high morale and optimism while in custody.

He mentioned that Lamichhane has been utilizing his time in custody for reading, research, and writing.

Lamichhane’s lawyers have requested that he be investigated outside of custody, while government prosecutors insist on continuing the investigation with him in detention.

Additionally, there is speculation that Lamichhane may be transferred to Rupandehi following the upcoming court session due to an arrest warrant related to alleged embezzlement involving the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal.

However, police have not commented on this possibility.
