RSP disciplinary commission recommends suspension of Mukul Dhakal from party

KATHMANDU: The disciplinary commission has recommended that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) suspend party leader Mukul Dhakal from party membership.

Dr. Dhakal, the General Secretary and Spokesperson of RSP, was suspended following a decision made during the party’s central committee meeting late Wednesday.

The suspension, which will last for seven days, was due to breaches of party discipline and rules.

Following the suspension, the party directed the disciplinary commission to take further actions against Dhakal.

The party is currently holding its central committee meeting on Tuesday to discuss and decide on the commission’s recommendation.

Dhakal has publicly criticized party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, alleging that Lamichhane has unfairly targeted him while avoiding accountability for various party issues, including the cooperative case.

Tensions escalated further when Dhakal’s request to release a report was denied, leading to heightened internal discord within the RSP, with Dhakal and his supporters on one side and Lamichhane and other central members on the opposing side.
