Meteorologists urge precautions against monsoon hazards

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecast Division has urged residents to take necessary precautions against potential disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and erosion, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall in Bagmati, Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Koshi provinces.

Stating that the country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, most parts of the country are experiencing generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rain occurring in areas of provinces including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has predicted a widespread shift in weather patterns this afternoon.

There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning in various areas of Bagmati, Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, and isolated places in other provinces.

Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, there will be light to moderate rain with thundershowers in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, and isolated areas elsewhere.

Furthermore, there is a risk of localized heavy rainfall in some places of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, with the potential for very heavy rain in isolated locations within the Koshi Province.
