KATHMANDU: Police arrested a woman in Kalanki, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, for possession of counterfeit currency.

Tara Devi Dangol, who operates a tea shop in Kalanki, was apprehended on Saturday night with 515 counterfeit 1,000 rupee notes, according to police reports.

Acting on a tip-off regarding the transaction of fake money, a team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, conducted a raid and arrested Dangol.

During the operation, the police seized the counterfeit notes.

Dangol is currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
