Five-bed municipal hospital set up in Jalpa

KHOTANG: A five-bed ‘Janasewa Municipal Hospital’ has been established in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality-12, Jalpa.

With the setup, the hospital has started providing service from specialist doctors.

The 15-bed Janasewa community hospital that has been operated by Janasewa Society Nepal Jalpa has been transformed into a municipal hospital, informed ward-12 chairperson Dan Bahadur Rai.

It may be noted that the locals had established the community hospital some 12 years ago by collecting donation and mobilizing in-kind labour.

Hospital management committee chairperson Dhruba Shrestha said that the physical structures constructed on 4.1 ropani land of the Janasewa community hospital along with equipment were handed over to the municipality.

Arrangement has been made in a way to integrate services of the health posts operated in Jalpa and deliver from the municipal hospital.

The service delivery has started from the municipal hospital since last Wednesday after the handover of physical structures and equipment worth amounting to Rs 35 million.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the municipality and Janasewa Community Hospital Jalpa for the establishment and operation of the municipal hospital.
