Three NA soldiers lose lives battling fire in Dolpa
Three soldiers of the Nepali Army lost their lives while bravely combating a fire in the Mashta Community Forest in Thulibheri Municipality-4, Dolpa. Sadly, they succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment. The deceased have been identified as 38-year-old Keshav Bahadur Magar from Kavre and 23-year-old Ashish Budha from Humla. Additionally, on Monday, 28-year-old Hemant Rawal also tragically passed away while undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Dolpa.
UML’s Yamlal Kandel appointed as Chief Minister of Karnali province
Yamlal Kandel, the parliamentary party leader of CPN-UML in Karnali province, has been appointed as the Chief Minister. He presented his claim before Karnali Province Chief Tilak Pariyar on Tuesday. Kandel enjoys the support of 23 lawmakers from CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, and the CPN-Unified Socialist Party.
NC appeals SC to invalidate appointment of Gandaki CM Adhikari
Amidst controversy, Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader and former Chief Minister, Surendra Raj Pandey, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, seeking the annulment of the appointment of newly nominated Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari. The Supreme Court has slated a hearing for this writ petition on Wednesday. The controversy stems from Adhikari’s alleged use of the province Speaker’s signature to assert a majority for his appointment as Chief Minister.
SC issues show cause order for non-recognition of Resham Chaudhary as Nagarik Unmukti Party Chair
The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order for the non-recognition of Resham Chaudhary as the chairman of the Nagarik Unmukti Party. A single bench of Justice Mahesh Sharma Poudel has directed both parties to appear before the Court before deciding on whether to issue an interim order for the hearing of the case. “The interim order regarding the plaintiff’s petition necessitates discussion with both parties,” the order stated. “Therefore, it is deemed appropriate to summon both parties to Court on April 12 and issue the requisite order.”
NEPSE records a single-digit increase on Tuesday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 9.19 points to reach 2036.01 on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week. A total of 9,789,416 shares worth 4.14 billion rupees were traded today, marking a slight decline in the trading amount compared to Sunday. The first day’s trading volume stood at 4.25 billion rupees. Except for hotels, tourism, and microfinance sub-indices, all sectors witnessed an improvement in the NEPSE index.
Seven Nepalis die in jeep mishap in India
Seven Nepalis lost their lives and two others got injured after their vehicle veered off the road and plummeted into a 200-foot-deep gorge in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India late Monday night. According to sources, the accident occurred around 10:30 pm near the Betalghat area, approximately 60 kilometers from the district headquarters in Nainital. Among the nine occupants of the vehicle, who were all residents of Mahendranagar in Nepal and employed as laborers in Uttarakhand, two Nepali nationals sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
RPP Chair Lingden calls for Home Minister Lamichhane’s resignation
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden, has declared that his party will demand the resignation of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane for authorizing the use of force against RPP supporters in Kathmandu on Tuesday. Lingden stated that the injuries sustained by senior leader Buddhiman Tamang during the use of force compelled the RPP to push for the resignation of the Home Minister.
HoR Meeting postponed until Wednesday
The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, initially stalled by 15 minutes due to obstruction from the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC), has now been further postponed until Wednesday. The decision to extend the postponement for a week was made in response to the declaration by the main opposition party, NC, that they would not permit parliamentary proceedings to continue unless a committee was established to investigate the cooperative scandal.
Gold prices soar to record highs, reaching Rs 136,300 per tola
Gold prices have once again surged to a new record high, with fine gold reaching an unprecedented Rs 136,300 per tola on Tuesday. The surge of Rs 100 per tola adds to the already record-breaking spike witnessed in recent weeks. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold has now been fixed at Rs 136,300 per tola, while standard gold is being traded at Rs 135,650 per tola.

Preparations underway for Seto Machindranath Jatra
Kathmandu Valley gears up for one of its grandest chariot festivals, the three-day Seto Machindranath Jatra, scheduled to commence on April 16. Also known as ‘Jana Baha Dyah Jatra’, this chariot procession venerates the God of Rain. Preparations are in full swing for the construction of the towering chariot of Seto Machindranath, which will be pulled through the streets during the festivities.
