HoR obstruction: Speaker Ghimire calls meeting of Chief Whips

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has called for a meeting of the Chief Whips following an unsuccessful gathering of political parties this morning at the official residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar aimed at resolving parliamentary obstructions.

The meeting was initiated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at Baluwatar.

After the meeting failed to reach a consensus, Speaker Ghimire decided to convene the meeting of chief whips, as stated by Ghimire’s Press Expert, Shekhar Adhikary.

Present at the Baluwatar meeting were Speaker Ghimire, CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa, leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Nepali Congress has announced its intention to continually obstruct Parliament, alleging the involvement of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lamichhane in a cooperative fraud scam.

Prior to this, Speaker Ghimire had discussions with leaders of major political parties on Monday regarding this issue, but to no avail.
