Nagarik Unmukti Party to take action against members joining NC-led Sudurpaschim government

KATHMANDU: The Nagarik Unmukti Party has announced plans to take disciplinary action against its ministers who have joined the Nepali Congress-led government in Sudurpaschim Province.

Three ministers from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, which supports the Dahal-led government at the central level, recently joined the Cabinet of Sudurpaschim Province and were sworn in on Friday.

According to Ranjita Shrestha, Chairperson of the party, these ministers made the decision to join the NC-led government without consulting the party leadership.

“The party will initiate disciplinary measures against them,” Shrestha stated.

The Nepali Congress, which withdrew its support from the Dahal-led government following the alliance between CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML, RSP, CN (US), and JSP, is now seeking additional support to secure a majority in Sudurpaschim Province.

In response, Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, representing the NC, has suspended ministers from the CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (US), appointing three new ministers from the Nagarik Unmukti Party.

Ghanashyam Chaudhary, the leader of the Nagarik Unmukti parliamentary party, has been appointed as the Minister of Economic Affairs. Khushi Ram Chaudhary has been designated as the Minister without Portfolio, and Indira Giri has assumed the role of State Minister for Land Management.
