DIG Chand transferred from TIA to headquarters

KATHMANDU: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Arjun Chand, the chief of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Security Office, has been transferred to the Nepal Police Headquarters.

The Ministry of Home Affairs transferred Chand from the airport to the Headquarters in connection with the latter’s dissatisfaction with the Ministry’s decision on the misunderstanding between the immigration officials and the security personnel deployed there.

This decision follows the recent turmoil among the police personnel and officials of the immigration office at the international airport.

In connection to the incident, when the bureaucrat-led committee held the security personnel ‘guilty’, DIG Chand had submitted his resignation. Later, after reconsideration, he withdrew his resignation and promised to resume duty.

However, while still on leave, Chand has been transferred from the airport.
