Ascetic Ram Bahadur Bamjan arrested in Kathmandu

Ram Bahadur Bamjan, long sought by the police, has been apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB). The CIB spokesperson, Navaraj Adhikari, confirmed the arrest, stating that the operation took place in the Budhanilkantha Hattigauda area of Kathmandu. “Bamjan, who has been on the police’s wanted list due to various complaints, was arrested by the CIB team around 7 pm today in the Budhanilkantha vicinity,” Adhikari stated.

Govt directs NEA to resolve power supply disruptions for industries

A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, instructed Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to resolve power supply disruptions for industries affected by the trunk and dedicated lines’ tariff controversies. During the meeting chaired at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, announced the formation of a three-member committee led by former Justice Girish Chandra Lal.

Families of conflict victims assure ‘No Obstruction’ in TRC bill

Families who lost loved ones in the armed conflict have pledged their support for the ongoing consideration of the TRC (Transitional Justice) bill in Parliament. In a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Tuesday, the conflict victims’ families expressed their commitment to not impede the progress of the bill. Their appeal emphasized addressing the demands of families affected by the conflict, particularly security personnel, within the TRC bill.

Sub-variant of COVID-19 confirmed in Nepal

The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed the spread of new sub-variant JN.1 of COVID-19 in Nepal too. The new sub-variant of COVID-19 has been spreading in some countries in recent weeks. RPP leader Bista elected Speaker of Koshi Province Assembly

Ambar Bahadur Bista from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) was elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Koshi Province Assembly on Tuesday. Srijana Danuwar, the Deputy Speaker, announced Bista’s uncontested election during the Provincial Assembly meeting held in Biratnagar today. Earlier, Bhakti Sitaula, the leader of the RPP parliamentary party in Koshi was the proposer and Prem Raj Thamsuhang the seconder of the proposal to make Bista the Speaker.

Education Minister Rai directs KMC to revoke Dr. Bishad Dahal’s suspension

Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, has directed the Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) to revoke the suspension of Dr. Bishad Dahal. Minister Rai, who also serves as the Vice-Chairperson of Kathmandu University, instructed the KMC to promptly lift Dr. Dahal’s suspension.
