Kathmandu Police arrest one for deceptive promises of foreign employment in Poland

KATHMANDU: The police have detained a suspect under allegations of fraudulent activities for offering promises of employment in Poland.

Puja Shrestha, a 30-year-old resident initially from Ward 5 of Bhimeshwar Municipality in Dolakha and currently residing in Tarkeshwar, Kathmandu, was arrested on charges of fraud, according to Kathmandu police.

The accused allegedly guaranteed Kala Pun, another individual, an opportunity for employment in Poland, demanding an upfront payment of NPR 850,000, with the assurance of a monthly salary of NPR 150,000 once in Poland. It is claimed that she defrauded Pun by taking NPR 215,000 without fulfilling the promised employment.

Responding to the issue, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Division apprehended Shrestha from New Baneshwor on Monday.

The Foreign Employment Department will conduct further investigations and legal proceedings to scrutinize this case.
