NA election: EC to register complaints against candidates today

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has initiated the process for addressing objections and complaints lodged against candidates who submitted their nominations for the National Assembly (NA) member election on Monday.

In line with the Commission’s announcement, the window will be open today for the filing of complaints against the 52 candidates who registered their candidature yesterday.

The elections are scheduled to take place on January 25.

Complaints directed at the candidates will undergo thorough investigation, with the Commission set to release the list of candidates under scrutiny on January 10 and 11.

Following this, candidates who wish to withdraw their names from contention can do so until January 12.

The final list of candidates will then be published on the same day.

On January 13, the Commission will allocate election symbols to the candidates, marking a significant step in the electoral process.

The voting itself is slated for January 25, with polls open from 9 am to 3 pm.

A total of 2,047 voters are eligible to participate in the election.
